Superior Faux Wood Trusses

Superior Faux Wood Trusses

Superior Faux Wood Trusses

Transform that drab cathedral ceiling into something spectacular! Our Superior Faux Wood Beams can do just that!

This beautiful truss system was created by using just 3 different contemporary (or sandblasted) beams. The STB-20 and STB 25 are three-sided beams that have square, non-rustic edges with a beautiful wood grain.

The STB-25 weighs just under 18 pounds and is the largest contemporary beam in the series. The STB 25 is used as the bottom & center chord. The STB-20 weighs just under 16 pounds and was used as the top chord. The SB 42-C is our four-sided beam in the contemporary/sandblasted series. It too, has square edges with that gorgeous, raised wood grain. The four-sided beam was used for the king post and the truss webbing. As you can see from the photo, the four-sided beam is ideal for making beautiful truss systems. This beam weighs less than 16 pounds. The STC-25 corbels finish off this elegant truss system.

Light weight, easy to install. Isn’t it time to transform your ceiling?

Superior Faux Beams – Light Weight

Posted By Administrator on November 5, 2010

Why Break Your Back!?!?

When Superior Faux Beams Weigh On Average 15 LBS!

Superior Faux Wood Beams create the look without the work. The days of reinforcing the ceiling, bringing in cranes and hiring teams to winch beams into place are over.

Superior Faux Beams can be installed simply, safely and easily with just two people.

Real wood  warps, cracks, splits, twiststurns and requires conditioning not to mention providing a tasty treat for termites. In other words, real beams equal high maintenance.

Superior Faux Beams provide the authentic look without the above drawbacks. In addition to being virtually maintenance free and authentic appearing, you can easily hide wires, air-conditioning, piping, etc., in them.

At a recent trade show, Mike, a builder from Texas couldn’t believe that the product wasn’t real wood. He had just installed real beams at his job site. Mike described the problems he had with the installation:  He hired a crane to come out, having that crane fall from the weight of the beams, then having to hire a second crane to come out to the job site to lift the first crane upright.

Superior Faux Beams would have saved him a great deal of time, money and aggravation.

Design Idea – Faux Wood Beams & Planks

Posted By Administrator on October 5, 2010

Design Tip For The Superior Faux Wood Beam:
In this application the customer ran the T 28 faux plank along the edge of the ceiling throughout the kitchen. The T 25 in conjunction with the T 17 was used to frame out the ceiling.

New Faux Pecky Ceiling Panels

Posted By Administrator on September 16, 2010

With winter rapidly approaching and the summer days starting to fade, can you imagine being able to relax in your warm and tranquil beach inspired hideaway? Now you can… quickly, easily and economically with two new ceiling panels.

Our new line of Pecky Cypress ceiling panels brings a little taste to Key West right into your room. The Pecky Cypress Ceiling panels are made from polyurethane and are very easy to install, they do not warp, crack, split, or interest insects.

The panels are tongue and groove which is also referred to as T & G.

  • Model P 01 – Measures 96”L x 15”W x ¾”D
    • The panel is molded to appear that there are three separate cypress boards connecting to one another through a V-joint. The boards measure 5” wide a piece,  which makes up the 15” wide panel. The pecky appears to be moderately aged. The heavier the pecky the older the wood.  There are several molds that make up this model, which ensures a natural looking final project.  A soft raised grain can be seen running throughout the panel.

  •
    • Model P 02 – 108”L x 6”W x ¾”D
      • This aged pecky panel is made up of three individual pieces of cypress replicas. The panels have strong pecky markings running throughout, along with a medium distress grain. The sides of the panels have been “rabbit eared” to allow for a quick and simple installation.

Pictured below is our new P 02 pecky cypress panel along with the STB 20 faux wood beam. These photos are a sneak peak of a project which was filmed for a home improvement special. The show will air in the beginning of 2011 which will also correspond with the panels being on display at the International Builders Show in January.

As you can see the aged pecky panel mixed with the raised grain contemporary faux beam brings a Key West charm to this room. This “Florida Room” truly feels like you’re footsteps away from the soft white sand beaches and cool ocean breezes.

New Faux Wood Cypress

Posted By Administrator on August 17, 2010

We are proud to announce the introduction of a new product line called the Craftsmen Series. The Craftsmen Series is made up of rafter tails, corbels and soon to come ceiling panels.

The name Craftsmen depicts the true quality and design of this product line. The Craftsmen Series is made up of two different styles of products. The majority of these products have sharp clean edges with a fine distinctive cypress wood grain emulating throughout the piece.

Also available is a Florida inspired favorite called pecky cypress. Pecky cypress is becoming very popular throughout North America because of its unique appearance. Our pecky cypress line is molded from fallen trees often found at the bottom of rivers and in swamps. Strong pecky markings are seen running throughout the products. Typically the stronger the pecky, the older the wood. In some cases the pecky used can be dated back to the 1880’s when trees were axed by hand and floated to mills. Some logs would inevitably sink in transit, which allows  us to harvest  and create these beautiful architectural enhancements today.

The finishing techniques of the Craftsmen series are unique to the Superior Product Line. Unlike the majority of the Superior wood products, the Craftsmen series is painted and not stained. The paint used has a UV inhibitor and is designed for exterior use. The Craftsmen series is available in: Fall Brown, Yellow Sienna, Western Red, Snow White and of course, unfinished.

The Craftsmen’s Series can already  be seen while strolling throughout Epcot in Orlando Florida, not to mention numerous buildings and homes.  No matter the style or the desired look, the Superior Building Supplies line can change the look and feel of any structure. From faux wood ceiling beams to crown mouldings, the architectural enhancements are virtually limitless.

Crown Moulding / Crown Molding General Information

Posted By Administrator on July 14, 2010

Crown Mouldings, also referred to as crown moldings have been around for centuries. Though the materials that the mouldings are made from have changed, the benefits of these mouldings have not.

Crown mouldings are typically installed over the seam that joins the ceiling and wall together.  They can be installed for architectural appeal or as a masking for cracks or other imperfections.

Traditional moldings were made from wood or plaster. These mediums crack, split, twist, and decay overtime. The Superior Crown Moulding line is made from very high density polyurethane. Polyurethane is a hard substance that mixed with the right technology allows for beautiful architectural features or replicas to be created. Superior Mouldings will not warp, crack, split, twist, or turn overtime. They expand and contract less than 1/3 of what wood will do.

The Superior Architectural Accent line includes crown mouldings, decorative rails, flexible mouldings, ceiling medallions, and many more elements that supply the finishing touches to any room.  These products (excluding flex moulding) come with two coats of white primer, so they are ready to be installed with your preferred paint color or installed as is.

No matter if you have a  “cookie cutter” style or a tailored made custom home/building, mouldings can help set your room(s) apart.

Mouldings create an elegant finished look for any room.

 Design Ideas:

Depending upon the application, mouldings can help raise the ceiling or help lower it. Chair rail mouldings can be installed underneath crowns to create countless designs and sizes.  In the picture below, the customer stacked the UT-5318 ontop of the UT-9867 to create a larger profile.

Also, moulding can be used in conjunction with the Superior Faux Wood Beam Line. The UP-5350 was used in the tray ceiling along with the T-20A faux wood beam. This created a very warm inviting atmosphere.

Mediterranean Faux Ceiling Beams

Posted By Administrator on May 21, 2010

No Matter if you are looking to install faux beams in a single family home or a 10,000 + sq ft restaurant, Superior faux wood beams can easily change the look and feeling of a room or a whole building.

Today’s Feature Friday posting spot lights a multimillion dollar spec home in South Florida. Safari Stone, worked with the builder to design the below elaborate layout.

By installing the replica beams and coral throughout the home, the builder created a breathtaking Mediterranean atmosphere.  When walking from room to room, it’s hard not to imagine the home atop the cliffs of Italy overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.

The time weathered rustic  faux wood beams used in this project were the: T 25 , T 30, T 38, along with several M 30 Rustic Corbels and S 02 faux iron straps.

The largest renovation in Garage Mahal’s history will feature 20 beautiful time weathered faux wood beams ( 13 – T 20A & 7 – T 25). In addition to the beams, Jay will have a 22 foot in-floor turntable (so backing in or backing out of the garage is no longer an issue), custom mahogany doors, fingerprint recognition & universal remote, just to name a few things.

Jay Leno Before and After Faux Beams

Superior Faux Wood Beams

Posted By Administrator on February 19, 2010

As you enter through the doorway, you are immediately taken back by the ceiling souring into the sky.  Large time weathered rustic beams over head, in a breath taking wagon wheel pattern. These beams look like they weigh 1000’s of pounds, and have been aging in a barn for decades.

The real secret is that no trees were harmed in the creation of this memorable ceiling.  These faux beams or false beams are made from quality polyurethane, which make the ceiling beams very light weight, and easy to install. The beams over head weigh a fraction of what real beams weigh. With the average faux wood beam weighing less than 15lbs, this ceiling has less than 150 lbs of faux beams attached to it.

With the faux wood beams being so lightweight, you do not have to worry about reinforcing the ceiling.
